I truly, truly believe that Gale Brewer wants to do something, but her hands are tied by the beaurocratic (spelling?) government. Bloomberg quickly knocked down Brewer's bill about the reconditioned mattresses saying that it would disservice the poor by taking away affordable mattresses. Spend $50 for a mattress and spend $5,000+ on eradicating bbs. Wow. What a savings! I really do believe that if the 'powers-that-be' behind closed doors weren't pulling Brewer's strings, she could get something accomplished.

Private companies can get more done because they aren't ruled that much by beaurocrats. They have more freedom.

However, as much as I'm for bringing back DDT, I hate to say this there are 3x more people against it stating resistance issues, etc. I'm afraid all goverment bodies are all against it. I've read that there are people working really hard on a bb trap to help detect bbs. These people should stop wasting their time on traps and really work on a pesticide which would be a more pracitable and permanent solution.
